While welcoming you to the parents’ club let me also tell you it is not just a bed of roses. On the contrary, if you are not prepared for parenting for any reason you may delay it by a couple of years, assuming that you have plenty of time on your hand.
The reason why I suggest you delay the process is to get acquainted to the subject of parenting more thoroughly. We see young boys and girls blindly falling in love and getting married in a jiffy and even raise kids without giving a thought to it.
You can cite any number of reasons as worthy excuses but the ultimate point you must remember is that parenting is a highly responsible act and that one has to view it with that kind of seriousness.
While you may prefer meeting parents of your age remember not to forget or bypass the older generation. I suggest you meet the older generation first and seek their valued advices and suggestions on parenting. Certain highly educated people like doctors and engineers, however closer you are to them, don’t easily come out with refined tips unless you show that seriousness. They tell you dos and dont’s of parenting that’s worth-listening because it is his/her experience that you have got to carefully listen too.
